Enjoy the brilliant musicianship of acclaimed pianist Melvin Chen as he returns to CCMF in a noontime recital of keyboard favorites including works by Beethoven, Debussy, and Joan Tower. Enjoy the music from standard seating or bring a lunch to enjoy at table seating!

Beautiful melodies meet classical structure in the timeless music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Public Radio East announcer Finley Woolston hosts a performance of the popular Piano Quartet in g minor performed by favorite CCMF artists Catherine French, Amadi Azikiwe, Jennifer Lucht, and Melvin Chen.

String Spectacular at Tryon Palace

Virtuosity and lush sonorities soar through the air in a concert event featuring string instruments of all shapes and sizes. World-class instrumentalists perform Dvorak’s joyful String Quintet, Op. 77 for string quartet and double bass, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Melinda Wagner joins CCMF for the North Carolina premiere of Pan Journal for harp and string quartet. Audiences are invited to meet the artists at a post-concert reception.

General Admission: $22 in advance ($25 at the door)
Tryon Palace Council of Friends: $20

Larkspur Trio

The History Place, 1008 Arendell Street, Morehead City

The dynamic Larkspur Trio (flute, viola, harp) performs an afternoon recital of works ranging from colorful favorites by French masters Ravel and Faure to the sweeping atmospheric charm of English composer Arnold Bax. The program will include a special performance of the Bax Elegiac Trio, in remembrance of the victims of September 11th. Audiences are invited to meet the artists at a post concert reception.

Step into a world of music influenced by dances new and old. The lyrical work Dream Steps (for harp, flute, and viola) by North Carolina Composer in Residence Dan Locklair is juxtaposed with the energetic music of Telemann and Dvorak’s popular Piano Quartet Op. 87. Audiences are invited to meet the artists at a post-concert reception.
